Congratulations to our Maverick of the Month: Ejike Eze!
Ejike joined Team Maverick in December of 2020 as a Workday Project Manager.
Our customer made the decision to integrate all the disparate old financial systems into a single, cohesive instance of Workday. To succeed with this initiative, the client needed a strong, skilled, and versatile manager for the project that could spearhead the implementation of this complex global system - in stepped Ejike!
He led over 60 employees and consultants that provided individual contributions which needed to be incorporated into the overall solution. We often received unsolicited positive feedback throughout Ejike's duration of this engagement. His dedication, leadership and teamwork brought this very important initiative across the finish line!
1. How long have you been in Information Technology?
I have been in IT for over twenty years.
2. How did you get involved with your current position?
I had just completed a large Workday implementation when Beth Lins, Maverick's Senior Technical Recruiter, reached out to me. It was perfect timing. With all the uncertainties surrounding COVID at the time, I needed a challenging project to distract me. Both Beth and Rich, Maverick's SVP were phenomenal in pushing things along and getting me started with the client.
3. What do you enjoy most about your job?
People. I enjoy working with people. Going from client to client allows me to meet all kinds of people, learn from them and share all kinds of experiences with them. This last project was particularly great because of the people. They were eager to learn and
willing to listen. That made it easy for me to guide them through the complex Workday methodology and deliver the project on schedule and under budget.
4. What are your thoughts on the future of the IT industry?
The future of IT is very bright. Technology will continue to drive innovation in the world. There is no getting around that.
5. What advice would you give to your 20-year-old self?
Pursue work/life balance at all costs. Work hard but don't forget to live. We must all
work to live and not live to work.
6. Where would you go if you won a free trip to anywhere in the world?
There are so many places to go. I love Punta Cana. I love Jamaica but Disney is my favorite place.
7. What are your hobbies or things that you like to do in your free time?
I read like crazy. There is nothing better than digging into a good book. I also enjoy writing short stories.
8. What do you enjoy about working with Maverick?
The people. I love the way Beth Lin checks in regularly to make sure I have the support
I need. I love the way Rich Tedeschi reaches out to the client to make sure I am being treated well. I was pleasantly surprised that Maverick was thoughtful enough to send
me a holiday gift last year. That coffee mug is one of my treasured swags. The cookies were not bad either. My family and I enjoyed them!
That's what sets Maverick apart - the heart of the people. I love it here.
"Ejike, I wanted to thank you on behalf of Maverick Technology Partners and myself. I
have been in this business since 1979 and can count very few consultants who have represented me in the way you have at one of our top customers.
You are the consummate professional and the Gold Standard by which all should
measure themselves in IT and Business consulting.
Thank you again, and we would be honored to have you on our team repeatedly."
Richard J. Tedeschi, SVP, Maverick Technology Partners
